Richard's Story
From High School I spent 4 years in the Navy and Marines as a Corpsman. Upon my return to civilization I completed an AA then a BA and finally a JD at the UMKC School of Law. I have represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in Civil Litigation for a number of years, I must say I prefer the Plaintiff side of the practice. After working several years for a couple of different firms I opened my own firm with Richard E. Armitage in 1994. We had a great time togeather until May of 2000 when Richard was murdered in his office. Most of you probably know that I was eventually convicted of his murder in 2002, wrongly, and spent over 5 1/2 years in prison for a crime I did not commit. t. As a result, the conviction was overturned and I am now trying to put my life back togeather. The State may or may not attempt another trial, but this time we have ALL of the evidence. Ok, so not your typical alumni profile but I thought the air needed to be cleared. I have a wonderful daughter living in Oregon who has been very supportive. As soon as this ongoing nightmare is over, I intend to get my license back and begin practicing civil litigation again (because I love it) and perhaps learn and pursue post-conviction remedies for selected cases I have become familiar with.
